General Precautions

When travelling in this region it is necessary to pay special attention to the climatic conditions. It is very important to protect yourself from the strong sun with a hat and dark sunglasses; on hikes, trekking, bike rides and horseback ridings you should use sun block (SPF above 30). Drink lots of water and always take some additional water with you. Don´t forget that water is a scarce resource in the desert and that the dryness and the elevated temperature tend to provoke dehydration. If your journey includes hours around or after sunset, or places over 3.000 masl take warm clothes with you, as the temperature changes and winds will be stronger at this time and that altitude.
